Fans of musicals, religion, profanity and just about everything else are celebrating news that The Book of Mormon, Broadway's latest smash hit, is landing in Chicago in December 2012.
The announcement has already boosted season sales for Broadway In Chicago, even though opening night is over 14 months away. Researchers for BIC have estimated Mormon will bring in over $500 million in economic gross for Chicago businesses.
The best news of all? The Bank of America Theatre is only 14 miles away from Cahn Auditorium, where the 71st annual Dolphin Show opens one month later in January 2013.

Dolphin Dashes at the Half-Marathon!
Well, not quite, but we will be there! As is our annual tradition, members of the Dolphin Show Team will be working at the finish line of the annual Chicago half-marathon cheering on ambitious and athletic Chicago-uns as they complete the race. So if you’re running, walking, strutting, or even just cheering on friends at the Half-marathon this year look for us at the finish line!
Dolphin of The Week
Due to the turbulence of hurricane Irene, a 6-fooot bottlenose dolphin was hoisted from it’s home in the Chesapeake Bay into a freshwater tributary of the Chicahominy River.
Lucky for us, Irene didn’t stop by the windy city.
For the daunting nature of its task ahead, we award this little creature with “Dolphin of The Week”.
SWIM FREELY HOME, FRIEND!
What's New On the Big Stage
Droids, Drinking, and Dublin
If you missed it on broadway and then again during it’s run on HBO, fear not because Carrie Fisher’s one woman show “Wishful Drinking” is coming to the Bank of America Theater in Chicago. Tickets are still on sale for the show’s run from October 4-16. If you like droids, buns, paul simon, and hard alcohol, or just want to see a funny show—this is the one for you.
What’s that? You’re not from Chicago? You’re from NY? Oh and you also really loved the movie Once and thought the music from that movie was really swell?
Well that’s awesome, because Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova’s musical journey is coming to the Off Broadway stage. Adapted from their movie “Once” by playwright Enda Walsh, the two singer songwriters will bring their story to the New York Theater Workshop in November.
So look out for the new adaptation this November.
That’s all the news for now.
